Strong motion data and related research results are introduced through the website, reports and papers. Researchers and engineers can use strong motion data as follows.
1. Digital Strong Motion Data Downloadable from Website
Digital strong motion data recorded on the ground (or closest place to the ground level) at each station can be searched and downloaded from the following website.
The digital data are provided under the following conditions.
- Please do not distribute the strong motion data to the third party.
- Please indicate the source of the strong motion data in your publication.
- Please send a copy of your publication using the strong motion data to BRI. The copy can be an electric file.
2. Digital Strong Motion Data Available by Application
Waveforms and spectra of strong motion data recorded at upper floors in buildings can be viewed on the website, but those digital data cannot be downloaded. The digital strong motion data at the upper floors of the following buildings can be obtained by making an application to BRI.
- Office buildings of national government (Table 1)
- Office buildings of local government (Table 2)
- Office buildings of independent administrative agency (Table 3)
- School buildings of national university (Table 4)
In this case, the following condition is added to the conditions above.
- Please do not describe information that can identify the individual building if it is not necessary in your publication.
For some buildings, it is required to make a prior consultation with building administrators in order to offer data. So your application may be declined after the consultation.
To apply for use of digital data, please fill the application form and send it to smo@kenken.go.jp.
3. Other Digital Data
For digital strong motion data that do not correspond to the above classifications (chapters 1 and 2), those may be used under the cooperative research with BRI.
4. Citation
Concerning the Strong Motion Data in general, please indicate that “the strong motion data were obtained in the BRI strong motion network.” Either of followings is recommended as a reference.
